(per press Aftsoor.vrioH,) ! Auckland, November 1. It is anderstood lint a meeting of creditors of the old established firm of Henderson and McFarlane was held to-day. The liabilities were stated at £66,000, and the assets at £44,000. The estate was assigned to three trustees on behalf of the creditors. The body of Alfred Joe, the colored man, who was drowned, with two companions, about six weeks ago by the capsizing of a fishing boat, has been recovered at Waikeke Island. Major Gudgeon, Commissioner of the Police Force, and who has been on a tour of inspection m this district, left for Napier to-day. WAIPAWA, Novernbor 1 Last night quite a host of applications for space was received by the Secretary of the Exhibition. The art exhibits are numerous and valuable, while the Home industries will make a splend d show. To-day is the last for applications. Subscriptions are coming m for a brass band fund. Wanganui, November 1. The entries for the Agricultural and Pastoral Show are very large, and everything points to a succetsful show on the Bth. Wkllingtok, Nivember 1 The Annual Show of the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society was held at Carterton to-day. The weather was showery, and affected the attendance. The entries numb?red 523, being an increase of 101 over those of last year. Mr J. R. Ray/ior was awarded the gold medal for Lincolns, Mr A. M'Kenzie for Shropshire Downs, and Mr W. C. Buchanan for Southdowns. I iscatorius was awarded the prize for the best thoroughbred stallion, and Laird o' Largo for the best draught stallion. Nelson, November 1 Mr John Gully, the well-known artist, died to-day, after a leng hy illness, aged sixty-nine. He settled down m Taranaki on first coming to the colony, and after some active service d ring the Maori War, came to Nelson m iB6O. In 1863 he was appointed draughtsman and surveyor under the Hon J. C. Richmond, Nelson, but the last ten years of his life have been devoted wholly to art. Donedin. November 1At a meeting of the Dock Trust yesterday, only three members attended. It was decided to extend the time for floating the loan for the construction of a new dock for twelve months. One member proposed the resolution, the Chairman seconded it, and notwithstanding the protest of the third member, the resolution was carried. The Exhibition Committee are issuing circulars to all Mayors, Chairmen of County Councils, and Town Boards, requesting the formation of local committees m etxh district.
