CYCLING.

• The members of the Ashburton Cyoling Olub intend to bold ft paper chase on Friday next. The cyolists will assemble at the post offloe at 1.30 p.m. Messrs Murray and Jones have been chosen as hares. Provided good weather some good sport should follow. Herounder are published the conditions of the chase : — % (1) Hares — These are two m number and eleo'ed by the members taking part m the ohase, by ballot if any member desire it. (2) Start — The whole of the members proceed as m an ordinary run to some spot agreed upon as the starting point. Then the hares are given "5 minutea start. (3) Paper — The hares are provided with a quantity of Blips of paper as scent, and these they begin to drop as soon as thajfc- tu>a out of sight. In case the soent is doubled ooiored papers should be used. (4) Chase — The hares must keep together and one caught means both caught. The pursuers must follow the scent and to catoh the harts must head at least one of them. (5) Finish — In ease the hares are not caught at a time agreed upon, all, both hares and pursuers, proceed to the starting point, and rtturn to the Olub room m prooession.
