JAM PRIMO. Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Klrkpatrlok a_d Co., of Nelson, and they went to work In % very praotloal fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the beet quality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this office, wi^h • request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion. We are happy to state, frankly and fully that wo have been Tary much surprised, as prior to tha receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlok'n gift we were unaware that INew Zealand could boast of an Industry of whlob U hag bo mqoh reason to be prond. The various sorts of fS_tt were tested by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general verdict Is that not only are Me-tra Kirkpatrtok'a productions far aud away better than »ny other Mew Zealand brand we c_n obtain, fbai they* are superior to -.-gUsh jams m being fresher. The nearest approach to the excellence of the JMelson jam was that oontained In tins bearing the name of • T«smanian firm, but even Id this comparison the A Nelson article pame out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local {industry, the product of whioh' we oan unreservedly reoommend to oonsnmers. All of the many persons who have tested the samples are loud In their praise, and we me;t gg,S.erveuiy congratulate Heasn 'Klrkpatrlok and 00. upon turning out m gepalpo fruit jam tit to grape th^ tables jand please the palates of the most iluxnrloos and fastldtous.— *' Jbtawka's Bay Herald," •loiy lHth. Samples of jftrkpatrlak and Go's « X brand of jam have been forwarded to as ( and we are free to oonfess that they .appear to be m every way exoellent and as they become better knows In the local market will meet with mtioh appreciation from the heads of household*. TJie maker aiierti that none but the pnrest frnits grown m Nelson are used In hit manuiaotorei, and we are content to accept that MSoraßce. Certainly the i-ms possess a richness and fresnuess ot fUror that bs-rs that abortion opt.--DQntdl
