The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday. October 26th, 1888:— Cables from London during the week owing to breakages have been of an Intermitten, character. Thli it was thought might tend to relaxation In the wheat market however the continuation of favourable repcrta have had a decidedly hardening effect, and several large and exceptionally good lines have been placed for prompt shipment at rates which may fairly be considered as above market 7alueß. There Is evidently a feeling of security among buyers which Is doubtless engendered by the Home prices as well as by the reports from the Australian Colonies of tho extreme drought experienced there. Oh'ckwheat alao comes In for a fair share of attention at prices which would have been considered good for the best milling a few months ago. Cats continue firm and are m good request at a shade over last week. | Quotations aifollows. Wheat —Prime Taioan lOd to 3i lid ; Pearl and Hunter* 3s 9d to 3s lOd; ohlokwheat whole, 3a 3d to 3a 4i, broken 2a 9d to 3s. Oats.— Milling 2s 4d ; bright short feed 2s 3d ; other kinds Is lOi to 2s; Barley.— 4s to 4s 3d for malting ; feed from 2s to 2a 6i. Beans and Peas.— The former 2« Sd to 2j lOd • the latter 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Grass Seed.— 2 i 9i to 2i lOd for maohlne dresaed ; farmers' parcels 2i to 2a 3d ; Oookefoot 3d to 3£d. * Potatoes. — la the absence of out&ide orders are nominally 40a at oountry stations.
