MINERS ' STRIKE AT HOME.
[MR PRESS ASSOCIATION.! London, October 20. A largely attended meeting of colliery owners was held to day, when a resolution was passed regretting that they were unable to grant an advance of wages to the miners, and they also agreed that the Mayor of Sheffield, along with representatives chosen by the miners, could inspect their books and prove that they were not m a position to pay a higher rate of wage. Considerable alarm is felt m the metropolis m consequence of the strike extending throughout the country. The stock of coal at present m London will probably last a fortnight, but should the strike beome general much inconvenience and distress will be experienced.
