JAM PRIMO. 1 ■ » Some time sinoe we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory natnre of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Klrkpatrlok and Co., of Nelson, and they went .to work In a very praotioal fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality, Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion. We are happy to state, frankly and fully mat we nave been very muoh surprised, as prior to the receipt of fl/leßsra Klrkpatriok's gift we were unaware that New Zealand oonld boaßt of an Industry of which It has so muoh reason to be pruad. The various sorts of were ' tested by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general' verdict ia ;h*t not only are Messrs Kukptttrick'a productions far aud away better than any other New Zealand brand wa can obtain, bat they are superior to .bngUau jama m being fresher. The nearest approach to the excellence of the .Nelson jam was that oontained In tins bearing the name of a Taamanlan firm, but even In this comparison the,Nelaon article came out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine looal industry, the prodnot of which we oan unreservedly reoommend to consumers. All of the many persons who have tested the samples are loud lo their praiae, and we must unreservedly congratulate Meßsra Klrkpatrlck and 00. upon turning out a genuine fruit jam fit to grace the tables and please the palates of the most luxurionß and fastidious. — " Mawke'B Bay Herald," July 18th. Samples of Klrkpatrlok and Go's " X " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that ihey appear to be m every way exoellent and aa they become better known m the looal market will meet with muoh appreciation from the beads of households. The maker asaerti that none bat the purest fruits grown m Nelson are used In his manufactures, and we are content to aooept that awnraace. Certainly the jams poseasa a richness anoTTreaDueaß or flavor that bears that assertion out. — DanedJn IWtfWjf^/ \-^\?: :.■:. --■ - •
