AUCTION EERS' REPORT.
Mr P. Williams (for Mesoro FHedUnder Bros) reporta having held f elr weekly sale of horbGß at their Bast Btreet Horae Baziar. The sp. obi at'rsct 1 n this week was 6 brood mares of Mr J.wnos Stark, of Ohridtoharoh. They were without exotption some of the finest mares wo have had the pleasure of submitting to the Ashbarton publlo, and from tbe prices reallfied vie have no hesitation la saying the pobllc were of the same opinion. 'I h-jre was a very large attendance of farmers and breeders, and frntn the demand shown for this olaae of stock there' is no d< ab r . the farmers are finding oat that good brood naarea are ecaroo, and that they are again turning their attention to breeding. We feel certain that before harvest we will ace horses fetching higher prices than th.°y havo done for some ytars. Three cf Mr Stark'B mar-.a are not to be despised, and If we are nit miatakeu ihay will make their mark m the ahow ling this year, and MrGilmonr is to be congratulated un having obtained two of the fineßt marea In the ABhburton County. The average for Mx Stark'a seven horacs was £43 The Individual prices are, viz. ;— Buy more Bmprbae, Sprs, by Pr/nee Koyal, dam Duchess, 62£? b, (ATr J. Gllmour) ; bay filly, The Charmer, 3yrn, by Chief, tain, dam Jeeß by i'rinoo Ohanie, 71gp, (Mr J. Utimoaf); biack mare, Diamond, 6yrs, by Prince Royal, dam J^au, 46? b, (Mr T. Langlej-). This mare afterwards changed hands at an advanoe of £10. Bay mure, Maggie, syr», by Scotoh Jock, 25gs (Meiers Would and Cameron) ; oheatnut mare, Violet, syrs, by Glenroy, dam Flower, 30^8 (Mr J W. Bawle) ; chestnut filly, 3yrs, by Kelvin, 17ga ; h*y gelding, syru, by Prince Royal, 25ga (Gould and Cameron). We submitted for other owners 17 horses, of whiuh 7 were sold at the following prices : — For aged draughts, from £15 to £23 ; light baraeflj horset np to £13 10s, and a good hack by Lancaster by Traduoer was withdrawn at £18 10s.
