JAM PRIMO. » Some time since we published a amall paragraph en the unaatlsfaotory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. Thla reached Meaara Klrkpatrlok and Co., of Nelson, and they went to work m a very praotloal faahlon to prove (hat the jams manufactured by the firm were of the beat quality. Two caaea of assorted jama were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly teat the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion. We are happy to state, frankly and fully that we nave been vary muoh anrprlßed, aa prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlok'a gift we were unaware that JSew Zealand could boast of an Industry of which it has so muoh reason to be prond. The various aorta of j?nT were tested by a number of petaona, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general verdict la that not only are jtleaara Ktrkpatrlck'a productions far and away better thau any other Hew Zaaland brand we oan obtain, but they, are superior to JfenMiiaa jams m being fr-ahnr. The nearest approach to the excellence of the JNelaon jam waa that contained m tlna bearing the name of • Taamanian firm, bnt even In this comparison the Nelson article came out a long way beat. We are pleaaed to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local industry, the produot of which we oan unreservedly recommend to oonsumera. < All of the many persona who have teßted the samples are loud In their praise, and we mast unreservedly congratulate Mea«ra Klrkpatrlok and Co, npon turning out a genuine fruit jam fit to grace the tables and pleaae the palatea of the most ,'Uxarluoß and fHstldtoua,-— " Mawke'a .Bay Herald," July 18th. Samples of Klrkpatrlck and Go's " X " brand of jam have been forwarded to ua and we are free to oonfeas that they appear to be m every way excellent and aa they become better known m the local market will meet with muoh appreciation from the heads of household*. The maker i aaaerts that none but the purest fruits grown m Nelaon are used m bia manufactures, and we are content to accept i that assurance. Certainly the jams poeseaa a richness ana fresnneaa ot flavor that beara that assertion out. — jjonedin
