JAM PRIttO. ♦ Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. Thla reaohed Meisra Klrkpatrlok and Co., of Nelson, and they went to work m a very praotloal fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the beat quality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this offioe, with a request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give our opinion. vVe are happy to state, frankly and fully that we have been vory maoh surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlck's gift we were unaware that JSew Zealand could boast of an Industry of whlob It has so mnoh reason to be proud. The various sorts ot ffifcr were tested by a nnmber of persona, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general verdlot la that not oniy are Messrs Ktrkpatrlok's productions far aud away better than .any other New Zealand brand we"TaTTTbtalnTTnt they are superior to English jams m being fresher. The nearest approach to the excellence of the Nelson jam was that contained m tins bearing the name of a Tasmanlan firm, but even m this comparison the, Nelson article came out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine looal Industry, the product of whloh we oan unreservedly recommend to oonsumera. All of the many persons who have tested the samples are loud In their praise, aud we must unreservedly congratulate Mesars Klrkpatrlok and 00. npon turning out a genuine fruit jam tit to grace tha table's and pie tee the palates of the most UXiirioQß and fmntdtoiiß. — " jj^wko'n Jiav Herald, " July 18th. Samples of Kirkpatrlok and Go's «• X " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that ihey appear to be m every way exoellent and as they become better known m the looal market will meet with muoh appreciation from the heads of households. The maker asserts that none but the purest fruits grown m Nelson are used m his manufactures, and we are oohtent to accent that aoiuranoe. Certainly the faros poBBeBB a richness aad freshness ot flavor that bears that assertion out.— D aDe Ji7; /Brtl," .July ii, r
