The dosing meeting fpr this session of the Aehburton Presbyterian Musical and Literary Society was held last evening m the ohurob, the Rev A. M. Beattid m the ohair. Tho attendanoo was vory satisfactory, a large number of friends of somo of tho members boing present by invitation. The first portion of the evening was devotod to the portfolio, a number of subjects for dißouasion having been arranged. These woro read out by the Chairman, and members chose a subjoot and were allowed live minutcß to addroßD the audience upou it. Refreshments, bountifully provided by a Committee of young ladies and ' bachelors, woro then handed round to all prosont, and some time devotod to conversation and eooial intercourse.
