Sydney, Ootober 3. For some time past the police have been aware that an extensive system of defrauding the banks by means of forged cheques has been m active operation m this city, but the perpetrators of the frauds eluded the vigilance of the detectives. To-day, however, two brothers named Grieve were arrested on the charge. The amount involved m their operations is unknown at present, but it is stated that all the city banks have been victimised.
