WESLEM SUNDAY SCHOOL.
Special services m connection with the anniversary of the Wesleysn Sunday School were held on Sunday last, and a tea and publla meeting last evening; The celebration was narked by great enthaitltMa, the servloes and meetings being the tnost cocoessful of any held m connection *tth th« Ohnroh for years past. There were large pongregations on Sunday, the preacher being the Rev, OH. Laws, whona Aermons, of a nature •ppiopriate to the occwlon, were very much appreciated. There was a very large attendance at the tea meeting held la the Oharob last evening and the affair wai a most prooouuoed success. The ▼arious tables were presided over by the following ladies ; — Mrs Andrew*, Misses Murray, Alcorn, Meyenberg, Turton, B&y, Tregoning, Steele, Pearson. Bonnington, Canon and Undrill. The Bey Mr Buttle presided at the after meeting, for which Jhe building was crowded. The meeting baring been opened with prayer, and au address by the Chairman, the Secretary of the Sunday Sohool, Mr H. Steele read the annual report which disclosed a very encouraging atate of affairs. The number of scholars on the roll was 180, the average attendance being 120. The number of teachers was 26. Allusion was made to' the success that had attended the inauguration of special classes whereby the elder scholars were retained, and the establish-' ment of mission boxes. Regret was expressed at the removal of Mr Chaa. Dixon to another district*; the Sunday School having lost ia him an earnest worker who would not eaiily be replaced. The outlook for the coming year was most satis factory, and every indication was given of the school continuing to flourish. The Treasurer, Mi" Ray, read a statement pf accounts showing the financial position of the sohool. During the evening addresses wen given as follows;— Bev Mr Burrows, ** incentives to teachers," Rev Mr Laws, «' The successful teacher," and Mr J. E Buchanan, "How to retain our elder scholars." At intervals sacred pieces were sung, instrumental assistance being lest by an efficient orchestra under the leadership of Mr O. Bay;
