MOUNT SOMERS ROAD BOARD
The usual monthly meeting of the Above Board was held ia their offioe oa Monday. Present : Messrs Walker (ohair* man), McFarlane, Harrison and Ohapman. OVERSEER'S BEI'ORT. The Overseer* report was read and oonsldered. It was reaolved to call ,g tenders for shingling abont 24 chains of the Oemetery road near the Aiford Forest ie hotel. ROSS* CDTTING. It was reaolred to reduce this catting •boat 8 feet, where the road Is on the edge n of the cliff • ■ a- bandy's knob The Overseer reported that this onltlng had again been damaged by storm water turned on to it by the construction of the Mcuut Somers Tramway. It wai resolved to bring the matter under the notice of the Ooanty Council. *" CORRESPONDENCE. H Letters were read (1) From Mr Tlioh re reserve near hia hotel. Left with the Ohairmtn to deal with (2) From Meairs Wilding and Lewis drawing the Board's attention to damage, done to Mr L ] Koss* land by the construction of a storm 3 water channel on the Sawmll and main road. — It wa3 reaolved that the members of the Board inspeot the place and give the matter fall consideration at the nezt meeting „ ROAD. Mr W. McOlimont interviewed the i Board with respect to the road leading to s his coal pit, and asfced (he Board for some 7 asmtanoe to make the same. After some. conversation Mr McOlimont agreed to bring before the Board at their next meeting some defiaite proposal. GATE. Mr Harrison applied on behalf of Mr Lamble for permission to erect a gate on the Gorge road near Sandy's Knob— granted. RESERVE. It was reaolved that steps be taken to. sell portion of reserve not required for Road Board purposes, the portion to be : retained to inolude the plantation round , the offioe, the timber yard and entrance thereto. RAJLWAY. It was>esolved that the Olerk write to the Minister of Pablic Works, and urge on him the necessity of completing the railway from Mount Somers to rfprlncborn, TENDSBS. Tenders were opened for the construction of 18 ohalna of stormwater drain at Mount Somers, and that of Mr Fagan was acoepted at £15, Fresh tenders were ordered to be called for the river fords oontraot, the two fords on the north branoh of the Aahbarton to be left oat. The pay-sheet amounting to £71 16s Id was passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
