SYDnnß*, September 2*. The Cabinet have had under consideration another petition praying foe the release of Holt, ex-manager of the Bank of New Zealand, as an act of clemency m the centennial year. Ministers failed to see any ground for exceptional treatment, and declined to set Holt free.
Searle has made n match with Kemp for the championship and .£SOO aside. The race is to come off m four weeks hence. Hanlan considers he was unfairly treated yesterday, and that the race ought to have been given to hira> for a foul. He seems anxious to row Kemp again, and intends to endeavor to arrange another match at Newcastle.
