The recent failures m the Yorkshire woollen trade have weakened the demand for wool except for choice sorts, the rates for which remain steady . Tallow— Best mutton, 27s to 27s 6d. Kauri gam is unaltered. Sugar is quiet. Hides, 4d to4£d. London, September 28. Three thousand nine hundred quarters of Adelaide wheat, October shipment, hare been sold at 40s 9d. The latest quotations for wheat are— Australian, ex warehouse, 41s to 41s 6d ; off coast cargoes are steady from 38s 6d to 39s ; New Zealand long-berried, 41s 6d to" 42s. New Zealand hemp, £26 15s to £27, Paris, September 28. The yield of the French grain harrest is put down at 96,000,000 hectolitres. [The quantity ntomed represents about 264 million bushels. ] London. September 29 The present seriea of wool sales will close on the 12 th October. At to day's sales . 12,000 bales were sold. The bidding was spirited and the demand stronger. .
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 28th fceptember :—
Wheat — The maiket is firmer. New Zealand average is worth 39s 6d per 4961 b; New Zealand f.a.q. is worth ci.f. to arrive 38s 6d per 4801 b.
Tallow — Market firm, Good beef and mutton tallows are worth respectively 27s and 27s 9d per cwt.
Hemp— Medium is worth £28 per ton.
