JAMIPfiIMO. ■♦ Some time since we published n email paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Klrkpatrlok and Co,, of Nelson, and they went to work m a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two casos of assorted jims were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly teßfc the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion. We are happy to statp, frankly and fully tha', we have been very much, surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlck's gift we were unaware that New Zealand could boast of an Industry of which It has bo much roason to be proud. Tho various sorts of jam were tested by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and ihe general verdict Is that not only are Mewara Kttkpatrlok'a produottotiß far aud away better than any other JNew Zealand brand we pan obtain, bot they* are superior tb ~ Jfcngl'latt jttna m being frenher. The nearest approach to the excellm.ee of the .Nelson jim was that contained In tins bearing tuo name of a I Taainanian firm, but even In this comparison tho Nelson article oame out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a gepuine local industry, tho product of which we can unreservedly recommend to consumers. All of the many persona who havo tested , tho samples are loud m their praise, and ■ we moat unreservedly congratulate Messrs Ktrkpatrick and 00. upon turning out a i genuine fruit, jtm n't to graoe the tables ] and pledge the palates of the most 1 UixorloDß and fastidious. — " Hawke's Bay < Herald, ".l uly 18th. < } Staples of Kirkpn trick and Go's "X " f brand of jira havo been forwarded to us ] «nd wo aro freo to confoss that they | app«br fco be m every wny excellent and t »B they booome better knovrn m the local market will meet with much approbation ! from the heads of houooholda. Tho maker I asserts \hrA none but the purest fruits * grown m Nelson aro used In bla manur- i factares, and we are content to accept ( that assurance. O rtainly thn j<mw £ posaeea a richness ftod r^'arnicaa ot flavor j that bears that assertion out. — Dqnedln c fi (Star," July tf, v j
