ATTEMPTED MURDER BY A WOMAN.
Thames. September 26 At the Polloe Oourfc yesterday Mary Davis was charged with assaulting her husband with Intent to marderhlm. The man said thit he was awakened on the night of the 18th August by reoelvtng a blow on the head, He did not recover consciousness for a couple of days, when he found himself In the hospital. Minnie Baxter, a domestic servant, deposed that the husband and wife quarrelled She heard the former accuse tue latter of being unfaithful to him. John Lloyd deposed that be was sent for on the night ita queatßon, Ha found the man uaoonecloua on the bed with his head hacked about with a tcmahawk. The modioal evidence showed that there were seventeen wounds on the man's head. The arresting ooustable said the woman threatened to kill her husband when she was being arrested. The Oioe was adjourned till the 3rd October.
