AN IMMENSE TOWER.
Paris, September 21. The workmen engaged m construct* ing the iron tower projected by M. Eiffel to commemorate the destruction of the Bastile, have struck for higher wages, owing to the unusually dangerous character of the work. The tower, which is intended to be ioooft high, has already reached a sufficient elevation to dwarf all surrounding objects.
