THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE
(PER PBKOS ASSOCIATION.) , Napier, September 21. The " Herald " this morning publishes interesting extracts from letters received from Alexander MoHardy, a well-known ranholder of Blackhead, who recently went to England with the express object of teeing whether the froaan meat trade oan be plaoed on a better footing. He alleges that at least a penny a pound more oonld be obtained by proper management, and suggests that three or four agents who wonld work together should receive all consignments, they to be bound to deal only In New Zealand mntton. He Mates that some New Zealand Companies ship to agents, who also sell River Plate sheep, and all is sold as New Zealand, thus discrediting oar mutton. He believes It an* necesiiry to establish ipeolal retail itoreij as the people are beginning to appreciate New ZeaUnd ment, and It Is now openly sold m the beat shops, but the publio want protection against Australian and River Plate meat being sold as New Zealand.
