Owing to tbe inadequate harvest it is* considered probable that Franca will suspend the operation of the import duties on cereals. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have just received the following cabe message from their London office, dated 18th inst. : — Wool — The sales opened this day at about the level of last sales, except for faulty scoured and coarse scoured crossbred, for which the market is slightly weaker. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition fairly active. Die sales comprise about 212,000 bale 3 ; 38,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct.
