Bbisbane, September 18. . An extensive fire occurred to-day m Eagle street by which damage to the extent of was caused. The fire brok« out m a large warehouse occupied by D. L. Brown and Co, wholesale importers of general drapery, wines, spirits, etc., and spread rapidly to adjacent premises occupied by Baker and Co., general merchants. Both buildings were completely gutted, but owing to the exertions of the Brigade, the fire was stopped from spreading further. Brown and Co. had the stock and building well covered, their insurances amounting to £101,000. The risks are distributed through nearly all the offices.
