WAR IN SAMOA.
(P«R Paiss Association.) Auckland, September 17 Fighting at Samoa, np to the time of the leaving of the mall steamer had not been severe. A number of natives had rebelled against German annexation and the Government sent a strong party into the bash to osptnre and dlspersa the rebels. The ptfrty came across a small oatpoit of rebels, and at onoe fired into them- The fire was quickly returned •nd Opift and^the rebels remained In the bush. Both tides claim a victory, but the advantage Is decidedly on the aide of the insurgent?, who had only 40 men to about 600 on the Government side. There are over 4000 armed men now m the field and lerlooi fighting Is anticipated.
