Measurement freight by steamers will probably be raised to 80s per ton shortly. Measurement freight by sailing vessel's has already advanced 2s 6d. The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day, show the total reserve m notes and bullion to be ■£ 1 2,695,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities 44 per cent* being an increase of ;£ 176,000 m the total reserve, and a decrease of 2 per cent m the proportion of liabilities. Sydney. September 14 New Zealand potatoes are quoted at 90s to 05s, oiroular head 95s ; maize, 3s 2d. Oats are firm at 2s 5d to 2s 6d; milling, 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Bran is easier at Is Id to Is l|d ; pollard is dull at lid to Is ; chickwheat, 2s lOd to da ; butter, imported Is 3d to Is sd, local brands Is 9d ; cheese is firmer at 7d ; New Zealand bacon. 9d to 9£d, old stock 7dtoßd. Melbourne, September 14. Wheat, 4s sd ; oats, 4s ; malting barley, 6s 3d ; maize, 3s lid. Bran and pollard are quiet. Adelaide, September 14. Wheat, 4s 3d to 4s 4d, farmers' lots 4s Id to 4s 2d at Port Adelaide, 4s at outports ; stone flour, £9 10s $ roller made, £10 5s to £10 10s ; bran, Is 3d j pollard Is Id ; oats, 3s 4d to 8s 6d. The following telegram was received m town yesterday under date of London, 12th September : — " The weather is fine, and the wheat market is affeoted m con* sequence, fluctuating from day to day as ,wet or fine weather is experienced. New Zealand, fair average quality, 89s, which ia highest possible price we can obtain at present.
