MURDER OF MAJOR BARTTELOT.
(PBR PBESB ASSOCIATION.) London, September 13. News has been received that Majoi Barttelot, who was m charge of on< portion of Stanley's expedition, has been murdered by Arab Carriers, Jameson, who was with the party, will succeed him m the command. [ Uaj or Edmund Mmgrove Batttelot fi the oecond aon of a. well-known Sasaax Baronet, Sir Walter Barttelot-Birttelot. 0.8., M.P,, whose family have been seated at St opham, neat Palborongh, ever since the Conquest. Major Batttelot wai born m 1859, and was 03naequantly In his 29th year. He was edaoated at Rqgby and at Sandhurst, and was a Major Ist Battalion Royal Foßlllers (Olty of London Regiment). He served In tbe Afghan war, 1879-80 (medal with olaap) ; | n the Egyptian oampalgn, 188*J (medal with Olaap and Khedlve'a madal) ; and In the Su&teln oampa'gD, 1885.
