Prices are depressed m consequence, and any material riso m wool is unlikely. It is hoped, howover, that values may be maintained. It is expected that 235,000 bales will bo available for the next scries. Tonnage is becoming scarce. Shares m the Shipping Companies are advancing m price. London, September 8. Tallow — Best mutton is quoted at 288 per cwt., and best beef at 275. There is a general advance m the iron market, and the latest quotation is 46s Od. Australian wheat ex warehouse realised 41s, off coast cargoes from 40s to 40 6d ; j New Zealand long berried, 41s 6d ; Australian flour, 27s Gd ; New Zealand hemp, £26 to £26 10s. Consols are at 100£. New Zealand Five per Cents., 104£ ; Four per Cents. Inscribed, 9 Of.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, Limited, have received the following cable raossago from their London office, dated September Bth :— Wheat — Tho market is easier.
Tallow — The market is strong. Good beef and mutton tallows are worth reppectivoly 25s 6d and 26a l)d per cwt.
