CANADA AND AUSTRALIA.
Oztiwa, September 5. The Marquis of Lansdowne, Gover-nor-General of the Dominion, states that no active relations exist between Canada and Australia, but expresses the opinion that it would be advantageous if close trade relations were effected. Canada, however, preferred that the Australian Colonies should take the initiative m the matter. The Marquis of Salisbury enjoins Canada mot to act without the sanction of the ' Imperial Government.
