ASHBURTON FORKS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

+ The usual monthly meeting of the Ash barton Forks School Committee was helc m the aohoolroom on September Ist, 1888 the whole of the members being present The following correspondence was reoelvad and read — (1) From the Board o Eduoatlon referring to the circular received at the last meeting re allowing the school to be used for purposes ol amusements, and requesting the Committee to abstain as far as possible froir allowing the aohoolroom to be nsed foi danolng—(2) From the Board stating thai they did not think the matters at Issue between the Master and the Committee were saoh bb to call for an enquiry, but ac they oould not work well together, the Board would advise the Master to try and get another school toward which It would offer all the assistance practicable— (3J From the Board stating that the Committee should communicate with tbe Mastei respecting the alleged authorship of tbe letter tha*. had appeared m the paper ac to whioh it did not appear that he had been asked for any explanation. The Chairman explained that this letter referred to tbe books the Committee had taken possession of at last meeting and which had been forwarded to the Board for their inspection, Tbe Chairman stated that the letter ha mentioned at last meeting as having, as he thought, been tampered with had been forwarded to tbe Board and that they themselves hud bad occasion to re-open it. The Chairman stated he had asked the Secretary to write Mt Hale asking him to be present at the meeting as the Commit tee wished to interview him. The Master's report was received and read. In whioh was stated that the attendanoe had been small of late owing to tbe flooded state of the roads, also that he had received the Secretary's letter and most decline to interview the Committee, and anything they wished to ask htm must be asked m writing to whioh he would at once reply. He also aßked that the books taken posaealoQ of at last meeting be returned to him. It was resolved by the Committee that Mr Hale be asked for an explanation re the authorship of the letter, as the writing seemed to Compare with the dooument m their possession, after which the books would be returned.
