WAKANUI ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wakanui Road Board was held at the Board's offioe on Saturday, Sept. Ist. Preaent — Messrs J. Brown, Lill and (Joe. In the absence of the Chairman Mr Brown waß voted to the chair. Correspondence was read (1) From Mr M. Brace, Chairman of the Board, apologising for npt being able. to attend the meeting on account of ill-health.— (2) [ From Mr Bntteriok. re water race m his property, whioh had been diverted by shingle contractor.— The Surveyors were instructed to have the matter attended to. (3) From Commissioner of Grown Lands, forwarding a statement of the amounts which have accrued under the provisions of the Land Act, 1885, on deferred payment and perpetual lease lands m the district, and informing the Board that the County Council intended to make applioation to the Government to have the amounts paid over to them towards the construction of water-races. — It was resolved that the Board concurs with the County Council m applying the proceeds of lands Bold under the deferred payment system towards the construction of waterraoeß for the benefit of the deferred pay* ment settlers.— (4) From MrS. Wright, re bridge over drain near h's place. — Surveyora to attend to same,— (s) From a number of ratepayers, asking that Butterick's Road from tbe Township Boad, to its junction with Corbett's Road, should be shingled.-— lt was resolved to call for tenders for. shingling that pact of the road between the Township Road and Station Road. The Surveyors were instructed to report on the roads m the district ttiatj required shingling. Tenders were opened, and those of A. i Betts and G. Totty were accepted for tuseock cutting, and T, Skilling for forming Wright's road. After pausing accounts the Board adjourned.
