WAKANUI RIVER COMMITTEE.
» . A meeting of the Provisional Committee was held on Monday night, at the Wakanui Sohool, at half-past six. Peesent — Messrs E. Thomas (ohairman), S. Brown, M. Wilson, W. Jameson, and D. Wilson (Treasurer). The following resolutions •were passed : — ! Proposed by Mr Jameson, and seconded by Mr M. Wilson — " That the surplus money on hand, amounting to £14 7s 6d, be paid over to Mr Samuel Brown for work whioh he did to try to stop the overflow of the river during the late freshes, whioh works were done by the sanction and authority of the Provisional Committee, and also m accordance with a resolution passed at the last meeting of the Kiver Board." " If any subscriber who has paid up m full makes any olaim m respect to the resolution passed m May last, they are hereby requested to put m their olaim, on or before the 15 th mat., to the Chairman, who shell pay the nmount, deduoting same from the amount to Mr Samuel Brown, there being no other funda on hand." "That the special duties for whioh the Committee was appointed have oome to a close, and all the money subscribed has been expended ; we therefore deolare that this Board has ceased to exist from Sept. 3." The £14 7s 6d waa then handed to the Chairman, and it was stated that all who applied to him for a refund would have their claims looked into.
