JAM PRIMP. Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Kirkpatrlck ai>d Co,, of Nelson, and they went to work m a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly teat the jam along with other brands, and give our opinion. vVe are happy to state, frankly and fully tiia'. we nave beeu very much surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlok's gift we wore onaware I that JNew Zialaod could boast of an Industry of whleb It has so much reason to be proud. The various sorts of jam were tested by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general verdict is .har, not only are Messra Klrkpatrlck'a productions far aud away better than any other New Zealand brand we oan obtain, but they are superior to Hingllsh jams m being fresher. The nearest approach to the ezcelleuce of the Nelson jam was that contained m Una bearing the name of a Tasmanlan firm, but even In this comparison the Nelson article oame out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local i , industry, the product of which we can unreservedly recommend to consumers. All of the many persons who havo tested the nauaploa are liud lo their prtweu, aud 1 wo most unreservedly congratulate Messrs Kukpatrick and Co. upon turning out a genuine fruit jam n't to graoe the tables ' and ple«ee the palatea of the most luxunuoß and tnßHdtous. — " Hawke's Bay Herald," ,luly 18th. Samples of Kirkpatrlck and Oo's " X " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that they appear to be m every way exoellent and #s they become better known m the local ffkptiigt will meet with much appreciation from thb frtfgdß of households. The maker asserts tj>at npng but the purest fruitß grown In Nelson a*e #so 4 m his manu- 1 factures, and we are content to accept that assurance. Certainly tha jarnw j possess a richness aim' fr«B7iirtiHtruT~n'<tvo*r that bears that assertion out.— Dnnedln
