ASHTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meating of the Aehton School Com* mittee was held m the ->cho)l on Monday 3-d September. Present — Messrs T Taylor (chairman), D, ttyan, and J. Ash ton The Master's report was read, and considered very satisfact >ry . The attendance for the month, considering the stats of the weather, was very good. Four boys had been admitted, and one boy and oue girl withdrawn, having left the district. The roli number at the end of the m nth stood *t 55. The average attendance was — B)y B , 23 4; clrla. 19 4; t«t%l t 42 8. The Mister applied for a drlnklug-tan for the Boboo), and a small quaitlty of drawing pap?r, which were granted. Accounts amou iting to £1 2s 6d were passed for payment. Me Ryan reported that the gorse-catting and grubbing was practically finished, and the Chairman was authorised to pay for the same when the work was passed This completed the business, and ttie meeting adjourned.
