PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.

m (from our own correspondent.l Wellington, August 30. After numerous vicissitudes, Government brea L he again. For they have b'x months at locst "f the sweets of office and rest beforo them, after the harrasslng four months thoy have spent. The winding up » as a very slow affair indeed, and was hardly enlivened by a single Inoldent. During tbe morning members were kept hanging abou', not bo muoh beoause there was anything to do, as that it was neoeaaary to obtain the Governor's anient to the Bills which had been passed; and this not being immediately obtainable, it was deoided to adjourn till three o'olook, when <my ffivr remaining matters might, lf possible, be brought forward and cleared up. When the House met, however, there wa<i nothing to be done, and after the Bills whioh had been assented to had been notified to members by message, Sir H. Atkinson rose and intimited tbat the prorogation would be formally made m the "Gazette" to-morrow. He moved that the House adjourn for a week, whiob, of course, meanß that there would be do members to resume ; but aome jooular representatives, with a view to showing that they were gatre to the finish, called for a division. The Speaker did not see any joke about It, however, and refused to allow lt, declaring the Houae adjourned. This brought the proceedings to a close, and members retired to pack up their valuables and get away. Altogether thirty members were present at the final scene, but the Houae had a very washedout appearance.
