WHAT WILL IT COST TO PRI NT? THE Centennial Printing and PublishJL ing Company, Limited, undertake to revise and prepare Manuscript for Publication either in serial or book form, Estimates and Designs furnished. GARNET WALCH, Editor, NAT. J. BABNETT, Manager, Melbourne JAM PRIMP. Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed in the colony . This reached Messrs Klrkpatrlck and Co., of Nelson, and they went to work in a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly test the j*m along with other brands, and give our opinion. v7e are h»ppy to state, frankly and fully mat we tmve been vury much surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatriok's gift we were nnaware that .New Zealand could boast of an Industry of which It has bo much reason to be proud. The various aorta of jam were tented by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and the general verdiot la that not only are M,es»rs Klrkpatrlck'a productions far and away better than any other JNew Zealand brand we can obtain, bnt they are superior to JUingilsa ]*me in being fresher. The nearest approach to tbe exoelleuoe of the Nelson jam was that contained in tins bearing tbe name of a Tasmanlan firm, but even In this comparison the Nelson article came out a long way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local industry, the product of whloh we can unreservedly reoommend to consumers. All of the many persons who have tested the samples are loud In their praise, and we must unreservedly congratulate Mesata Ktrkpatrtck and Co, "upon turning out a genuine fruit j*m fit to grace the tables and please tbe palates oi the most luxunune n»d f»B'ian»na t — " llawke'e Bay Herald," tluiy ISth. Samples of Kirkpatrlok and Go's " K " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that they appear to be In every way excellent and as they beoome better known in the looal market will meet with muoh appreciation from the heads of households. The maker asserts that none but the purest fruits grown la Nelson are used In hie manufactures, and we are content to accept that assurance. Onttatnly the j*tn» possess a richness ana t-fßineoß ot "'flavor tb»t bears that anßerauu out.— Dqnedin lf btar," July 3.
