Sydney, August 21. In the Supreme Court to-day Mr John Haines, M.L. A. for Mudgee, brc-ught an action against Mr James Fletcher, M.L. A. for Newcastle, m which damages were laid at for an assault committed by the latter upon the former m the House of Assembly on the 21st March last. A verdict was given for defendant. The present is the driest season ever known m that part of the colony embracing a radius of a hundred miles of this city. In the country districts also the rainfall has been below the average.
