JAM PKIMO. ■—• Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed In the colony. Tbla reached Meisrs Klrkpatrlck and Co., of Nelson, and tbey went to work In a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two cases of assorted jams wore sent to this offioe, with a request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion, ffie are h»ppy to state, frankly and fully tha' we have been very much surprised, as prior to the receipt of flfeiera Kirkpatrlok'a gift we were unaware that New Zealand could boaat of an Industry of whioh It has so much reason to be proud. The various norts of jam were tested by a number of persons, who compared the samples with other brands, and ihe general verdict la that not only are Meaara Ktrkpatrick'a productions far aud away better than any other New Z^alaxd hrft^ri w« ot»n obtain, ba< i»ey hre superior to Jttnmiah j*ma m being frPßher. The neareut approach to tbe excellence of the Nelson jam was that contained m tins bearing the name of a Taßmanlan firm, but even Iv thla comparison the Nelson artlclo came out a lona way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local industry, the product of which we can unreservedly recommend to consumers. All of the many persons who have tested the samples are loud In their pralne, and we moat unreservedly eongratqlftte Mesa 1 Klrkpatrlck and Co. upon turning out a genoloe fruit, j \va lit to grace the tables and piome the palaten of the most hixnriuaw and fnaMrtnum. — " Hawke'a .bay Herald," July 18th. Samples of Klrkpatrlck and Go's " X " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that ihey appear to be m every way exoellent and as they become better known m the looal market will meet with much appreciation from the heads of households. The maker asserts that none but the purest fruits grown In Nelson ore used In bis manufactures, and we are content to accept that assurance. Certainly tha j^ma possess a richness ana t>nain.eßß ot "flavor that beara that aaaertlon out,— Dunedln /■bitV'jui.a. ""° v '
