The Wellington correspondent of the " Hen; Zealand Volunteer Gazette" writing about the competition for Hallenstein's Oup, says : — •" The Guards (Wellington) led off at 200 yards with a score which it is safe to say hae never, been equalled— certainly never eclipsed —m Hew Zealand, eaoh man sooring 30 out of a possible 35, or 150 m all." Being rathei doubtful on this point we have made inquiries, and find this score has been equalled and ee'ipsed by Otago volunteers. The Dunedin City Gnards, m their match Bgainat the Otago High School Cadets, made 150; and the Wakari Bifles, m the Team Match at the last Hew Zealand Kifle Asioeiation Meeting, made the «»toe store. The Gratha Bifieß, m the Ladies' Shield Match m December, 1885 made 152, and the small " inner " was uaec pU thil OWMJOD.
