Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Klrkpatrlck ai*d Co., of Nelson, and they went to work m a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best qaality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this office, with a request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give our opinion. We are h«ppy to atate. frankly and fully thai, we tiave beep Tery much surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrtok'n gift we wete nnaware that Hew Zealand could boast of an Industry of which it has bo much reason to be proud. The nearest approach to the excellence of the Nelson jam was that contained m tins bearing the name of a Tasmanlan firm, but even In this comparison the Nelson article came out a lone way best. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine local industry, the product of whioh we can unreservedly reoommend to consumers.
