The opinion wbb expressed that the Imperial and Colonial Governments should hasten the proposed survey of the route. A despatoh from Ottawa, Canada, on July 7th, says the exact route of the cable has not yet been decided, but It will run from Vanoouver, 8.C., to the Hawaiian Islands and the reoently annexed Fanning and Fiji Inlands, thence to New Zealand, and from there to Australia. The oable will be 6800 miles long, bat the longest stretoh will not be over 2000 miles. Mr Owen Jones, engineer and capitalist, arrived from Australia on July Bth, accredited to the Canadian and American Governments on a mission to oonduot the negotiations toward the construction of this oable
