Thamis, Auguit 20; William D*vls, milkman at Mount PlMsaat. was murderously assaulted by hliwlfeon Saturday night. It appears that quarrels hare been frequent between them for some time past. On Saturday tight Davia returned home under the Inflaenc. of drink. While undressing he commenced to quarrel with his wife and •übuquently (as she alleges) took up a large butchers knife and threatened to oat her throat, kt this time Mrs Davis was m b«d and f wring he would carry out his threat, aha caught up a tomahawk, that was on the window alll and struok lier husband several times inflicting no less than 17 wounds on his head which Is terribly mutilated. He now lies m the faocpUal and there Is little hope , >f his recovery. Mrs Davis was arrested by the polloeand brought before the Court today on a oharge of attempted murder but was remanded for eight day*
