PARNELL AND " THE TIMES."
[PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION. '" : " Ltndon, Anguat 15. The " Times " m referring to the libel action brought against the paper by Messrs O'Connor and Redmond, expressed the opinion they are intended simply to distract and divert attention from the larger issues. It announces that the action will be defended, but it is intended to prove the charge before the Commission. It is stated that the libel action brought by Mr Parnell against " The Times" cannot possibly be heard before January next. It is believed m some quarters that the action will collapse owing to the news agent serving "The Times " having no copies of the paper m which the alleged libel appeared. It is announced that the initial preparation under the Commission Bill must be made before September 17th. The rumor that Mr Parnell intended to retire from Patliament pending enquiry by the Commissioners is without foundation.
