A Napier paper says :— On Saturday evening one or two gentlemen in town reoeived information to the effeot that the notorious Jonathan Roberts was s passenger by the evening train for Napier, and with the request to "keep it dark," it was added that the information eould be relied on, aB it had oome from the very beat authority, and that Roberte was ooming into town. The gentlemen in question, as might have been expected, received the statement with a certain amount of incredulity, and thought it was a hoax. However, being told that it was " right," they duly met the train on its trrival but there was no Jonathan Roberta, althougt three constables had put in an appearanoe Those who had met the train for this special purpose returned to town with the though that they had been " had."
