HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
AFTERNOON SITTING. The House met at 2 30. LABOR SETTLEMENTS. Replying to Mr Steward the Premier aald that Government proposed to expend £10,000 In the establishment of labor settlements as recommended by a deputasion of Canterbury members. SUMMNABY OF BUSINESS. Despite the expostulation of Mr Seddoc, the House appointed a Committee to confer with the Legislative Council as to the amendments made In the Mining Act. The remainder of the afternoon was devoted to the Native Bills, Mr Taiwhangs taking occasion to disclaim relationship with the devil. At the evening sitting, the Native Land Bill was pasßed, after a considerable amount of farther discussion, by sixty-five to thirteen ; Mr Ballance contending that the interpolated restriction of any purchase to not more than five thousand aores was the saving clause. Contrary to expectation, the Premier onoe more deferred the mall service resolutions, «nd by so mnoh dßhyed yet further the delivery of the Pablic Works Statement. The House piased on to the District Railways qaastion, the amending Bill, after mnoh talk, being taken m Committee. The House was onoe more left sitting at 2a.m
