JAM PEIIO. ♦ Some time since we published a small paragraph en the unsatisfactory nature of much of the jam retailed m the colony. This reached Messrs Kirkpatrlck and Co., of Nelson, and they went to work m a very practical fashion to prove that the jams manufactured by the firm were of the best quality. Two cases of assorted jams were sent to this offioe, with a request that we would thoroughly test the jam along with other brands, and give oar opinion. vVe are happy to state, frankly and fully that we have been very muoti surprised, as prior to the receipt of Messrs Klrkpatrlok'a gift we were nnaware that New Zealand could boast of an industry of which It has co maoh reason to be proud. The various sorts of jam were tested by a number of persons, wbo compared the samples with other brands, .tud the general verdict is ihut not only lira Mesara Klrkpatrlck'a productions far aud away better than any other New Zealand brand wa can obtain, bat they ■re superior to Jjingilnh jama In betug fresher. The nearest approach to the exceiieuoe of the Nelson jam was that contained In Una bearing the name of a Tasmanlan firm, bat even In this comparison the Nelson article came out a long way beet. We are pleased to be able to give unstinted praise to a genuine looal Industry, the product of whloh we can unreservedly recommend to consumers. All of the many persona wbo have tested the samples are loud In their praißp, aud we matt unreservedly congratulate Messrs Ktrkpatrlck and 00. ppcTn" tnrnlng oat a Pennine fruit Jim fit to grace the tables and pie*ae the palates of the most luxorionw and fastidious. — " Hawke's bay Herald," Juiy 18th. Simples of Kirkpatrlck and Go's " X " brand of jam have been forwarded to us and we are free to confess that chey appear to be In every way excellent and •a they become better known In the local .market will meet with much appreciation fco£i the heads of household!. The maker Bs#e*!4 that none but the purest fruits ! grown JjJ Nelson are used In his manui factored, And we Ate content to accept that assuring. O^talnly tha j>ron possess a richness froa fmsttneßa ot flavor that, bears that assertion ont.r— Dqpedln '• btar," July 3. "
