The House renamed at 7.80 p.m. f NATINE LAND COURT BILL. The Native Land Ooaet Bill iraa farthaz considered In Committee. In olause 22, enabling a ceslui que trast to become a certificated owner of land to whtoh they are entitled, the Premier moved to restrlot the operation of the clause to the Bay of Plenty Distrlot. Mr Carroll strongly opposed the amendment and begged the Premier to leave It as.it stood, so that It might apply generally. After more than an hour's discussion the amendment was carried by 41 to 26. Clause 30, relating to certain specified deolalon of- the land oourt caused a long debate, several members objeo ting to the possibility of Injustice being lnffictad by opening ap these cases again. An amendment by Major Steward, providing that any rehearing under the olause shoold be without prejudloe to any bonajide dealings with land before August 14th, was carried without a division. The remainder of the Bill passed. The Premier moved the recommittal of the BiH, for the purpose of reinstating olanse 18, whioh had been amended on Mr Hutchison's motion on the previous day. In answer to Mr Hutchison he said that Government Intended to appoint a Commissioner to deal daring the reoess with all past trans ictlons which did not come within the scope of the Bill as It stood. In answer to Dr Newman he said It would include snob, oases as those of the Mokau Coal Company and Mr Arthur Owen, whose petitions had been before the House. On this understanding the alteration trae ncade. The BUI passed Its final stages and the House tote at 12.35 a.m.
