To-dny Mr Justice Ward granted an injunction! restraining ths City Council from taking a poll on the proposal to rai c a loan for gasworks on the ground that notices re the poll should have been.given by the Mayor, which waa not done, and that the Council require a special Act under clause 369 of the Municipal Corporations Act before establishing gasworks. To-night the City Council deoided. to obtain legal advice on the gas question and, If practicable, apply to set aside the injunction ia3ned by the Supremo Qourt, restraining them from taking a poll on the loftD for gasworks.
