The chainmakers of Staff >rdsniie and Worcestershire have struck for higher wages. It is alleged they are at present paid starvation rates. Great distress prevails, and many are absolutely m want of. food. Mr R. C. Graham, M.P. for Lanark, who has visited the district, describes the condition of the people as deplorable. He is of opinion that unless something is done to ameliorate their distressful condition the peace of the country will be menaced.
