LORD MAYOR'S BANQUET.
At the Lord Mayor's banquet, Lord Salisbury, . m referring to Egypt, said affairs there were m a prosperous state, despite the frontier dangers. A feeling of self-dependence was rapidly increasing, and England would shortly be enabled to honorably withdraw from Egypt. As regards affairs m Bulgaria, heexpressed pleasure at the increasing tendency to respect Bulgarian autonomy which Russian valor mainly secured. He warmly eulogised the late Emperor Frederick. Lord George Hamilton responded to the toast of " The Navy," Mr Stanhope to " The Army," and Mr Goschen to " The House of Commons."
