The " Auokland Herald " of July 24th says :— The Rev George Brown left by the b.s. Wainui for Tonga. Aa our readers are aware, the principal object of his visit is to endeavour to heal the unhappy divisions m Tonga that have led to the neutralising of years of missionary labour, and to disturbance amongst the natives, From the many difficulties surrounding the Tongan question no one could have undertaken it with any ohance of sucoess except Mr Brown. A few days ago we stated that Miss Bavin, the eldest daughter of the Rev R. Bavin, was about to proceed to Tonga to engage m mission work. Miss Bavin also left m the Wainui. A large number of the friends of the missionary party assembled at the wharf just previous to the steamer's departure to bid them farewell and wish them every sucoess m their new sphere of labour.
