SEIZURE OF AN ILLICIT STILL

Inspector Moore .ni a force of police made a ae'zare of of an illicit still and appliances at MerzW Farry, near Wyndbam last night, and arrested George Davey and Thomas Pepperlll, who were found on the premises. The house belonged to (he last named, and an addition had recently been made to it of two rooms. One In whioh the plant was found had no windows, and the door was concealed, while an exit had been provided by a ladder •nd a trap m the ceiling of the still-room communicating with a second apartment, which had a door, the arrangement Ift ?Ing evidently been made to facilitate escape In caae of surprise. No liquor had been made, but a fire was under the still and barley, sugar and other Ing.edlenta were at hand for the manufacture. The men were brought before the R.M. to-day and remanded, bail belog allowed. Davey Is a carpenter, and says he was only there to construct the building. I
