The Houee met at 2,30 p.m. DISORDERLY HOUSES.

Mr Fergus introduced the Disorderly Houses Suppression Bill.

The Premier had no objection to the adjournment.

A lengthy discussion followed, after which the Premier said that it had been represented to the Government that If the Bill were now proceeded with stonewall Id g would continue, whereat if an adjournment till next day were agreed to, proposals would be submitted whioh would probably meet with the approval of the Houae. He hoped each a reasonable request would be agreed to bo that "Government might prooeed with flome other business.

The motion for reporting progress was then oarried on the voices.

SLAUGHTERHOUSES BILL, The Slaughterhouses Act Amendment BUI was further considered m Committee and pasaed with slight amendments.

FAIR BENT BILL. The Fair Reut of Land Bill was further considered In Committee.

Clause 21— Rent fixed by Commission deemed the rent payable. Mr Perceval moved that portion of the olause be struck out whloh provided that fixed rents should not be considered for three years from the date when the order of the Commission takes effeot. Mr Peacock moved as an amendment that "three" be atruok out and "five" substituted.

Mr Peroeval's amendment was lost after long discussion by 32 to 30. Mr Peacock's amendment to Insert five yeara was carried on the voloes. The remaining olausps were passed with rerbal amendments. Aiengthy dlaousslon ensued on the motion by Mr Carroll to exempt landa held by Natives on the West Coast from the operation of the Bill. The motion waa objected to by several member i on the ground that the Nat(v*s should be put on the same foothjg as Europeans. The debate wa9 interrupted by the 5,30 p.m. adjournment.
